Mr. Thao Xuan Sung was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union.

At the 13th meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VI, held this morning (January 12) in Hanoi, Mr. Thao Xuan Sung, member of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission, Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, was elected by the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to hold the position of Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VI, 2013-2018.

Attending the conference were Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee Ha Ban and representatives of the leadership of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the Central Mass Mobilization Committee.

“I promise to the Executive Committee that I will try to learn, constantly strive together with the Standing Committee, the Standing Committee of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to promote democracy, join hands, unite in solidarity, be creative and determined to successfully implement the goals and tasks assigned by the Party and the State, and the Resolutions of the 6th Conference of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union. Continue to restructure agriculture, care for and protect the legitimate interests of farmer members, and achieve sustainable poverty reduction, worthy of the Party and State's trust in the Vietnamese peasant class,” said Mr. Thao Xuan Sung.

The conference also discussed the Draft Directive on launching a special emulation campaign to welcome the Congress of Farmers' Unions at all levels, towards the 7th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term 2018-2023; Draft Resolution of the 13th Central Executive Committee Conference of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VI; and announced decisions on rewards. Before closing, the conference will proceed with the signing of the emulation covenant for 2018./.
