VFF has just agreed to the proposal to increase foreign players playing in V.League.

Teams participating in international tournaments will register 7 foreign players but only 3 will play on the field, 1 will be on the bench and 2 will not play.

Previously, for various reasons, teams were only allowed to use 2 foreign players, then increased to 3 foreign players in V.League. Therefore, Vietnamese clubs also faced many difficulties when participating in international competitions. They did not have the best preparation when opponents in other tournaments used many foreign players from South America and Europe.

Foreign players will be allowed to play in the National First Division 2025/26.

Accordingly, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has agreed to allow foreign players to play in the 2025/26 National First Division. First Division teams are allowed to register 1 foreign player and can replace him in the middle of the season.

Thus, after exactly 10 years of absence, foreign players have just appeared in the lower leagues of Vietnamese football.

In the past 10 years, whenever V.League teams faced off against First Division teams in the National Cup, a relegation play-off match, they had to accept playing without foreign players to ensure fairness. This rule is not wrong but brings certain disadvantages.

Managers all realize that the First Division will become more attractive and competitive if there are foreign players. From the players' perspective, they have more opportunities to show themselves in the hope of being noticed by a V.League team, thereby earning more income.

Kepa has had an impressive "revival".

The 2023/24 season was not a success for Kepa as he played for Real Madrid on loan.

After a challenging season, Kepa returned to Chelsea hoping to regain his form, but he was sent out on loan to Bournemouth again.

It was here, under the guidance of coach Andoni Iraola, that Kepa had an impressive "revival". After a short time, the Spanish goalkeeper proved his worth and became a key factor for Bournemouth.

With a contract at Chelsea until 2026, Kepa now faces important decisions about his future. His excellent performances at Bournemouth could help him create his own opportunities, with big clubs keeping a close eye on top goalkeepers.

While Chelsea may need him back in the future, impressive performances in the Premier League will open up new opportunities for the goalkeeper.
