Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man has just been elected as President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to replace Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan.

At the 7th conference of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee this morning, delegates listened to Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee Ha Ban announce the Politburo's opinion on the personnel recommendation for consultation to elect the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, 8th term.

Accordingly, the Politburo agreed to let Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan cease his position as Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2014-2019 term; introduced Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to negotiate and elect the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; and appointed him as Secretary of the Party Committee.

In addition, the Politburo also introduced Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province, to work at the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, introduced him for consultation as Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and appointed him to join the Party Delegation.

The conference heard the report of the Presidium on the dismissal of Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan from the responsibilities of Chairman, member of the Presidium, member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and introduced personnel to negotiate and elect to hold the position of Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 8th term of 2014 - 2019 for Mr. Tran Thanh Man - Vice Chairman, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Previously, on May 9, the Politburo decided to assign Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee for the 2014-2019 term, to hold the position of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

The conference agreed with the Presidium's proposal to remove Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan from his responsibilities as Chairman, member of the Presidium, and member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
