Mr. Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, has been promoted to the rank of General.
On July 14, President Luong Cuong presented the decision to promote Mr. Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, from Lieutenant General to General.
General Trinh Van Quyet was born in 1966; his professional qualification is a Bachelor's degree in Party Building and State Agencies. He has many years of experience working in Military Region 2. In April 2021, he was appointed Deputy Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army. In June 2024, he became Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army.
The President also presented the Decision to promote the rank of Lieutenant General to General for the Central Committee members of the Party and the Central Military Commission, including the three Deputy Ministers of National Defense Nguyen Hong Thai, Nguyen Van Hien, and Nguyen Truong Thang, along with the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army Nguyen Quang Ngoc.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai, born in 1969, holds a Bachelor's degree in Military Science. He has previously held positions such as Commander of the Phu Tho Provincial Military Command, Deputy Commander of Military Region 2, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Military Region 2, and Commander of the Hanoi Capital Command. He was appointed Deputy Minister of National Defense last April.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien was born in 1967; he holds a Bachelor of Military Science degree. He has many years of service in units of the Air Defense - Air Force Command, holding positions such as: Commander of the 365th Air Defense Division, Deputy Commander of the Air Defense - Air Force Command, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Air Defense - Air Force Command, and Commander of the Air Defense - Air Force Command. He was appointed Deputy Minister of National Defense last June.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang was born in 1970; he holds a Bachelor's degree in Military Science. He has many years of experience working in units of Military Region 7. In October 2018, he assumed the position of Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command. In 2020, he served as Deputy Commander and then Commander of Military Region 7. He was appointed Deputy Minister of National Defense last June.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc was born in 1968; his professional qualification is a Bachelor of Military Science specializing in Command and Staff, Combined Arms. He has worked for many years in Military Region 3, holding positions such as Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Military Region, and Commander of the Military Region. In January 2025, he was appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.
