President Donald Trump said Saudi Arabia will “pay whatever money is needed” to help Syria rebuild after its civil war.

The Hill quoted Mr. Trump on Twitter as saying, “Saudi Arabia has now agreed to pay the necessary money to help rebuild Syria on behalf of the United States. Wouldn’t it be nice if our wealthy neighbors were helping Syria instead of relying on the United States, a country 5,000 miles away? Thank you, Saudi Arabia.”

Last week, Mr. Trump announced that he would withdraw 2,000 US troops from Syria. According to Mr. Trump, the US military had defeated the terrorist organization called the Islamic State (IS) and would return home after completing its mission. The US State Department added that 2,000 US troops would return home within the next 60-100 days.

However, after announcing its withdrawal from Syria, the US military continued to increase weapons and troops to eastern Syria. A source even said that the US coalition was building a new military base in Hajin.
