Trump condemns assassination of Russian ambassador in Türkiye and attack in Germany

Donald Trump said that 'Islamic terrorists' were responsible for the assassination of the Russian Ambassador to Türkiye and the attack on a Christmas market in Berlin.

APUS President-elect Donald Trump on December 19 condemned the assassination of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov and the truck attack on a Berlin, Germany Christmas market that killed 12 people and injured at least 50 others, blaming “Islamic terrorists” for both incidents.

Mr Trump called the assassination of Russian Ambassador to Türkiye Andrei Karlov in broad daylight at a photo exhibition “a total violation of the rules of civilized order” and added that “radical Islamic terrorism” was responsible.

Turkish authorities have confirmed that the perpetrator of the incident was Mevlut Mert Altintas, a member of the Ankara riot police squad, who was later shot dead after a gunfight with police.

Referring to the truck attack on the Berlin Christmas market, although German police have not yet reached a conclusion about the perpetrator, US President-elect Donald Trump has linked this attack to "radical Islamic terrorists".

“The Islamic State and other radical Islamic terrorists are slaughtering Christians in their communities and places of worship as part of their global campaign of war,” Mr. Trump declared.

Mr Trump also added that terrorists and their networks around the world must be eliminated and pledged to carry out this mission together with “all freedom-loving partners”.

Later, on Twitter, Mr. Trump said that the attack in Germany and other incidents in Türkiye and Switzerland showed that "the situation is only getting worse. The civilized world must change its way of thinking!"./.
