Twitter is President Donald Trump's favorite social media platform. He uses Twitter for everything from publicizing government policy to personal praise. Each message posted on Twitter is limited to 280 characters.
It is unclear how Mr Trump managed to use Twitter in China, although a White House official said before the visit that there was nothing to stop the US president from sending messages to the people.
"The president will send whatever message he wants. It's a direct way to communicate with the American people. Why not?", the official said on the flight to Beijing.
"I'm sure we have enough equipment on board to ensure that. But it's worth noting that no Western social media platform is licensed to operate in China," the official said.
