Trump denies saying he has 'good relationship' with Kim Jong-un

The US president has hit back at reports that he said he had a "good relationship" with the North Korean leader.

SheetWall Street JournalOn January 11, US President Donald Trump was quoted as saying in an interview: "I can have a very good relationship with Mr. Kim Jong-un". However, the White House asserted that Mr. Trump said "I will" and not "I" and the US President continued to deny it today.AFPreport

"Obviously I didn't say that. I said 'I would have a great relationship with Kim Jong-un.' That's a big difference. Fortunately, we now record our conversations with reporters," President Trump wrote on Twitter.

"They know exactly what I said and what I meant. But they just want to make it up. Fake news!", the White House owner emphasized.

Relations between Washington and Pyongyang have been strained following a series of missile tests and North Korea's nuclear weapons development program.

On September 3, 2017, Pyongyang conducted its sixth nuclear test. Three months later, North Korea launched the Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile, which for the first time was acknowledged by Western experts to be capable of hitting the entire US mainland. Kim Jong-un declared that North Korea had become a nuclear power.

The war of words between Trump and Kim Jong-un has recently escalated with fierce and continuous threats. Tensions are increasing day by day and are at their most serious since the end of the Korean War in 1953. The US President has nicknamed the North Korean leader "Rocket Man".
