"Maid" broke into the cabinet and "stole" 27 taels of SJC gold from the homeowner

The "maid" knew that the homeowner often kept money and gold in the cabinet, so when the homeowner was not paying attention, she broke into the cabinet and stole 27 taels of SJC gold (worth nearly 870 million VND).

On November 21, the Investigation Police Agency, Vinh Long Provincial Police arrested Nguyen Thi Oanh (born 1968, residing in Trung Hieu commune, Vung Liem district, Vinh Long province) to investigate the act of "theft of property".

According to the initial investigation results, on November 16, 2015, Mr. Nguyen Van Man (born in 1956, residing in Trung Hieu commune) discovered that 27 taels of SJC gold stored in the cabinet suddenly disappeared. Afterwards, Mr. Man went to the local police station to report the theft of the above gold.

Upon receiving the news, Vinh Long Provincial Police began an investigation. Initially, “maid” Oanh did not admit to stealing the gold and kept denying it.

After a while, knowing that she could not escape the investigation of the investigation agency, Oanh turned herself in. Oanh admitted that, because she was a housekeeper, she knew that Mr. Man had a lot of money and gold. However, Mr. Man did not hide the assets in the safe, but only put them in a regular locked cabinet in the room.

After a period of monitoring, taking advantage of the crowded store when Mr. Man was not paying attention because there were many customers coming to buy fertilizer and pesticides, Oanh used a knife to pry open the cabinet door and took away 27 taels of SJC gold. After stealing the gold, Oanh acted as if she knew nothing and continued doing her housework as usual.

The investigation agency only seized 16 taels of gold, the remaining 11 taels were sold by this "maid" for personal expenses.

The case is being further investigated by the Vinh Long Police Department.
