The world's first 3D-printed electric car was displayed at the 3D Printing Culture Museum in Shanghai, China on March 11.China DailyThe electric vehicle, called LSEV, is expected to hit the market in April 2019.

The LSEV was developed by the Italian company XEV. According to XEV, the application of 3D printing technology allows the number of components of the car to be reduced from more than 2,000 to just 57 parts, thereby saving 2/3 of the production time compared to the traditional car manufacturing process.

Each finished vehicle weighs just 430 kg. Its compact design allows it to move and park more easily on narrow roads. The Italian Postal Service said it will use the electric vehicle for deliveries in the future. The LSEV has received 7,000 orders from across Europe and is expected to go into series production by the end of this year.
