Chinese car exports to Vietnam have increased sharply.
According to data from the General Department of Customs, the number of cars imported from China in the first eight months of the year increased by 187% compared to the same period in 2013.

Nearly 7,000 cars were imported in the first eight months of 2014, placing China third among countries exporting cars to Vietnam. However, the value of completely assembled car imports from China led the market with $274 million, accounting for 31.3% of the total car import value.
In the first eight months of the year, domestic businesses imported nearly 37,300 complete automobiles of all types, with a total value of $806 million, an increase of 71.5% in volume and 91.9% in value compared to the same period in 2013.
Leading the way in terms of car exports to Vietnam is South Korea with 10,290 units, equivalent to a value of 203 million USD, accounting for 25.2% of the total market value and ranking second after China.
Following South Korea in terms of the number of completely assembled cars exported to Vietnam is Thailand, with 7,427 units and a turnover of 124.8 million USD in the first eight months.
According to a report by the General Department of Customs, Vietnam imported over $1.06 billion worth of automotive parts and components for domestic vehicle assembly in the first eight months of 2014.
