Pajero Sport reduced by 206 million - equal to Fortuner price in Vietnam

The new generation single-wheel drive SUV imported from Thailand has its price reduced from 1.355 billion to 1.149 billion VND, applicable in November.

During the year-end shopping season and the new tax policy from 2018, Mitsubishi reduced the price of Pajero Sport 2017 (imported) 4x2 version to 1.149 billion, a reduction of 206 million from the retail price of 1.355 billion.

Previously, in September 2017, Mitsubishi reduced the price of both the 4x2 and 4x4 versions by 156-180 million. In October, it reduced the price of the old assembled Pajero Sport to 700 million.

With a new price of 1.149 billion VND, Pajero Sport 4x2 is equivalent to its competitor Toyota Fortuner V 4x2. By setting the price equal to its competitor, it can be seen that Mitsubishi is determined to compete with Fortuner in the Vietnamese market. The 4x4 version costs 1.538 billion VND, but dealers are selling it for around 1.36 billion VND.

In the 7-seat SUV segment, in addition to Fortuner, Pajero Sport 2017 also has to compete with Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Ford Everest, Isuzu mu-X and soon Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Pajero Sport 2017 is equipped with a 3-liter V6 gasoline engine with 200 horsepower, 285 Nm torque at 4,000 rpm, 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters on the steering wheel, 1-wheel or 2-wheel drive.

Mitsubishi's 7-seat SUV is imported from Thailand, while Fortuner is imported from Indonesia. If driving experience, performance and dynamic design are your priorities, Pajero Sport is a reasonable choice for customers looking for a versatile SUV.

Meanwhile, Fortuner is still at the top of the segment because it is suitable for many customers, has diverse needs, is durable, and holds its value.

In 2018, both Pajero Sport and Fortuner have the potential to reduce prices significantly when import tax is reduced from 30% to 0%. With this change, it is estimated that manufacturers can reduce prices by up to 20% compared to 2017. However, the actual figure depends on the company's strategy and the impact of policies.
