Pakistan claims to have shot down an Indian spy plane
The Pakistani military said on July 15 that it had shot down an Indian spy drone in the disputed Kashmir region.

The incident comes just days after the prime ministers of India and Pakistan met in Russia to mend ties between the nuclear-armed rivals.
“An unmanned surveillance aircraft used by India for aerial photography was shot down by Pakistani soldiers,” the Pakistani military said, adding that the aircraft had intruded into the “Line of Control” border area near Bhimber in Pakistani territory.
However, the Press Trust of India newspaper quoted the country's army and air force as saying that none of their drones were shot down.
Pakistan has repeatedly claimed to have shot down Indian spy planes for violating Pakistan's "territorial sovereignty." However, Indian authorities have always denied the information.
The Muslim-majority region of Kashmir has been divided by the “Line of Control” since India and Pakistan gained independence from Britain in 1947.
Both countries claim sovereignty over all of Kashmir. In 2003, India and Pakistan signed a ceasefire agreement. However, this agreement has been occasionally violated by both countries.
