AFP reported on December 11 that Palestine accused Israel of "murdering" senior official Ziad Abu Ein, who had died the previous day in clashes between protesters and Israeli troops in the West Bank.

Abu Ein, 55, died on December 10 after a violent confrontation with Israeli soldiers near the city of Ramallah. Shortly afterward, Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas warned of retaliatory measures.
