Palestinian PM accuses Israel of wanting to retake Gaza Strip. Türkiye warns of consequences if Israel hunts Hamas members abroad.

According to TASS, on December 4, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said: "We are facing Tel Aviv's plan to retake the Gaza Strip. They also plan to establish buffer zones inside this land. We strongly oppose this plan and call on the whole world to reject Israel's ambitions."

Prime Minister Shtayyeh stressed that the establishment of buffer zones would destroy the structure of the Gaza Strip, while the area should be expanded based on UN resolutions. According to Mr. Shtayyeh, the area used to be about 555km2, but now only about 364km left2.

Earlier, Israeli officials revealed that Tel Aviv has no plans to maintain forces in the Gaza Strip after the ground campaign ends, but is discussing a security buffer zone near the border with Gaza.

Türkiye warns Israel

According to Reuters, on December 4, Turkish officials warned Israel of the consequences if it hunted down Hamas members abroad. "Ankara has sent the necessary warning to Tel Aviv. We emphasize that such actions will lead to serious consequences," a Turkish intelligence official said.

Previously, the Israeli government revealed plans to hunt down Hamas leaders in several countries such as Lebanon, Türkiye and Qatar.

On the same day, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Turkish President also said that Western countries supporting Israel are "complicit" with Tel Aviv.
