Paulinho arrives at Barca

The Catalan team confirmed the purchase of midfielder Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande (China) for $45 million.

Paulinho will sign a four-year contract after completing a medical on August 17. The release clause is $135 million, three times the amount Barca paid Guangzhou Evergrande.

Paulinho is Barca's first new signing since Neymar left. The Catalan giants are getting up to 263 million dollars from the transfer of the Brazilian striker to PSG.

Over the past few days, Paulinho’s talent and career have been the subject of discussion among many Barca fans. Many people believe that the 29-year-old midfielder is not suited to the top level of the game and the team that has won the European Championship five times.

Paulinho had a difficult time during his two years playing for Tottenham in the Premier League (2013-2015). Two years ago, the Brazilian star played forGuangzhou Evergrande at the invitation of compatriot coach Felipe Scolari.

Thanks to Paulinho,Guangzhou Evergrande won six titles including two Chinese Super League titles and an Asian Champions League. Good form in China also earned the 29-year-old midfielder a return to the Brazil national team.
