'Penguins of Madagascar' - a hilarious penguin squad
Returning after the Madagascar series, director Eric Darnell teamed up with Simon J. Smith (instead of Tom McGrath) for the big-budget animated film ($135 million) - Penguins of Madagascar. This was a long-awaited and highly anticipated project for Eric Darnell and DreamWorks Animation, two years after the release of Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012). With great enthusiasm and dedication, Penguins of Madagascar arrived earlier than planned (originally scheduled for release in 2015) and did not disappoint fans.

With its clear and easy-to-understand storytelling, along with humorous and endearing moments, Penguins of Madagascar is a true animated film for children. The meticulously crafted character designs and voice acting create a vibrant world full of sound and color.
Besides the four adorable, chubby, and lovable penguins, each character in the film makes an impression with their own unique style: the "tentacled boss" doctor who is both hateful and pitiful; the chubby, kind-hearted bear; the clever, cunning wolf; or the graceful, proud owl...
The voice acting can be considered a more successful aspect of the film than expected. Viewers will surely be thrilled when the baby penguin hatches from its egg, softly greeting the world, or when young children are delighted to hear the evil, tentacled doctor whimper in his grotesque, deformed form. Director Eric Darnell had an excellent voice team with Tom McGrath, Chris Miller, and Christopher Knights.

Even a noticeable pronunciation error by Benedict Cumberbatch, reading "penguins" as "pengwings," didn't bother the audience; instead, it made the Madagascar penguin team even more adorable.
The harmonious and cheerful musical score is another plus point of the film. Combined with exciting sound effects, young viewers will surely be dancing and glued to the screen, captivated by the penguin crew's mischievous antics. The 1970s song "Celebrate" is cleverly incorporated alongside famous locations such as Venice (Italy), Shanghai (China), and New York (USA), surprising viewers with the experience of traveling around the world with the penguin crew.
Besides its lighthearted and entertaining aspects, Penguins of Madagascar also conveys other humanistic messages about brotherhood, camaraderie, the price paid for the wicked and greedy, and profound lessons about core values hidden deep within each person that are sometimes not fully reflected on the surface…

The insidious octopus's name is Dave. |
The lesson that Skipper the dim-witted penguin learned was: "It's not what we look like, but what we do." The characters of Penguins of Madagascar complete their journey, transforming into many different bizarre forms, only to end beautifully in a compassionate, peaceful world – a place free from evil schemes and dark tricks.
Engaging and easy to understand for young audiences, yet not too superficial or forgettable for animation lovers in general, the story of the penguin team will be a delightful choice for the whole family on the weekend.
Penguins of Madagascar will be released to Vietnamese audiences from November 28th.
