The veteran Portuguese centre-back is likely to sign a two-year contract with PSG, on a free transfer.

Pepe left Real to get more playing time, Marca reported on June 5. The 34-year-old midfielder needs to play regularly to increase his chances of earning a place at the 2018 World Cup with Portugal.

Pepe is unlikely to achieve his goal if he continues to play for Real. Last season, coach Zidane only used Pepe 18 times. The bright star of Euro 2016 was not even on the list to play in the Champions League final.

In addition to the offer from PSG, Pepe also received invitations from Inter (Italy) and Hebei Chine Fortune (China). According to Marca, the French team and coach Unai Emery had to try hard to convince the Portuguese star to agree. The parties reached an agreement before the Champions League final.

Pepe started playing for Real in 2007. During his 10 years of service, the Portuguese midfielder helped the Bernabeu team win four La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.

With the Portuguese national team, Pepe won the Euro 2016 championship. This was also the first international title in the history of the Iberian peninsula team.
