(Baonghean.vn) -On July 2nd, the Criminal Investigation Team of Vinh City Police announced that they had successfully cracked drug case 613D, arresting two dangerous individuals for the crime of "illegally buying and selling narcotics".

According to local sources, a male individual has recently been regularly bringing methamphetamine into Thanh Chuong district for personal use and resale to drug addicts in the area and Vinh City.

Upon receiving the information, the Vinh City Police leadership, under the direction of Lieutenant Colonel Mai Chien Thang - Deputy Chief of Police of Vinh City as Head of the Investigation Team, Comrade Nguyen Van Dieu - Team Leader of the Criminal Investigation and Social Order Team as Deputy Head, and the investigators held an emergency meeting to establish Special Case 613D, and proceeded to investigate and arrest the suspects.

Based on that, the investigating agency quickly verified the identity of the suspect as Tran Van Duan (born in 1983, residing in Hamlet 14, Thanh Ha Commune, Thanh Chuong District), who regularly took buses from Thanh Chuong District to Vinh City to sell methamphetamine to addicts in the area.

Using professional methods, after a week of investigation and verification, the detectives obtained information that Duẩn was preparing a large quantity of methamphetamine to bring to the city for distribution.

At 8 PM on June 29th, as Duẩn got off a bus on the Thanh Chương – Vinh City route and was traveling to 8 Văn Đức Giai Street (Hưng Bình Ward, Vinh City) to sell drugs, he was ambushed and caught red-handed by undercover police officers holding 265g of methamphetamine, ready to hand it over to Trần Văn Thục (born in 1972), residing in the same commune.

During the initial interrogation, Duẩn admitted to all his illegal acts and confessed. In 2004, he had a prior conviction for "theft of property" and was sentenced to 30 months in prison by the Thanh Chương District People's Court. However, due to greed, after serving his sentence, he became addicted to drugs and frequently supplied methamphetamine to addicts in the area.

At the investigative agency, Thuc also confessed to regularly buying drugs from an unknown individual, a Hmong national of Laotian origin, for personal use.

Currently, the investigating agency is continuing to expand the investigation and arrest related individuals.
