Breaking up a 10 billion VND gambling case using lottery numbers

On May 26, the Investigation Police Agency of Quy Hop District Police announced that the unit had just successfully broken up a gambling case using lottery numbers with a transaction amount of more than 10 billion VND, temporarily detaining 07 subjects.

Previously, through the work of grasping the local situation, Quy Hop District Police discovered a gambling ring and organized gambling in the form of recording lottery numbers with many participants.

The leader of this gambling ring is Hoang Thi Hai Yen (born in 1995), residing in Minh Hop commune, Quy Hop district. Although only 27 years old, Yen directly runs the gambling ring with very sophisticated tricks.
Accordingly, gamblers in the ring often use smartphones and social networking applications such as Facebook, Zalo, Telegram, and Messenger to gamble to avoid detection by authorities.
Yen's effective assistant is Manh Thi Thu Hang (born in 1989), residing in Nghia Xuan commune, Quy Hop district. Hang was hired by Yen and assigned direct work to deal with gamblers, collect and keep records, profit sharing ratios, etc.

Determining that the gambling ring's activities affected local security and order and caused public outrage, Quy Hop District Police established a special project to combat them.

After nearly 10 months of establishing a project and collecting documents and evidence, at 4:00 a.m. on May 23, 2022, in Nghia Xuan and Minh Hop communes, Quy Hop district, Nghia Hung and Nghia Hieu communes, Nghia Dan district, Quy Hop district police successfully broke up the project, eradicated a gambling ring in the form of recording lottery numbers using high technology in Quy Hop district and neighboring districts, arrested 11 subjects including 07 women, 04 men, aged 27-65 for gambling in the form of recording lottery numbers.

Initially, the investigation team proved that the amount of money the subjects used for gambling on May 22, 2022 was nearly 1 billion VND. Particularly from May 1, 2022 until the time of arrest, the amount of money the subjects participated in gamblinggambleup to more than 10 billion dong.

The police also confiscated and temporarily detained evidence of the case including: 25 mobile phones, 07 books recording lottery numbers, 03 savings books with a total value of nearly 1.5 billion VND, 02 motorbikes and more than 370 million VND in cash.

At the Investigation Police Agency of Quy Hop District Police, before the evidence and documents presented, the subjects bowed their heads and confessed to all their crimes.

Currently, the case is continuing to be investigated and expanded.
