Breaking up online gambling ring worth hundreds of billions of dong

On the afternoon of March 29, a series of locations related to the online gambling ring in Ho Chi Minh City were continued to be searched by the High-Tech Crime Prevention Police Department (C50) in coordination with the Criminal Police Department (C45, Ministry of Public Security).

At least five people have been arrested. These people are believed to have organized gambling on a betting site with a server located overseas. The Ministry of Public Security has also sealed many houses scattered in districts and counties of other suspects who are currently not in the area.

At three houses in alley 84 Ton That Hiep street (District 11), many riot police officers were stationed to prevent anyone from entering or leaving. Many computers, books, USBs... believed to be related to illegal acts were confiscated. Suspect Nguyen Van Thong (41 years old), who lives here, was summoned for investigation.

Authorities saidThis line has been operating for a long time. Participants are given accounts to gamble with virtual money, which is then converted into the corresponding amount of money. It is estimated that the amount of money gambled on this page is up to hundreds of billions of dong.

Police are expanding the investigation.
