President Donald Trump has canceled the US delegation's trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos due to the partial government shutdown.
"Because 800,000 U.S. employees are not being paid and cannot ensure the necessary support for this diplomatic mission, President Trump has canceled the U.S. delegation's trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland," White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement on January 17.

Earlier this week, the White House said it planned to send Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Chris Liddel, assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff for policy cooperation, to attend the Davos Forum.
Last week, President Trump announced he would not attend the Davos Economic Forum due to the government shutdown.
The World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos brings together world leaders and business executives. This year's theme is: "Globalization 4.0: Shaping a global architecture in the era of the fourth industrial revolution."
On January 17, President Trump postponed a visit to US troops in Afghanistan by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress.
