Register for all 5 exams. Candidates cannot skip any exam if they want to graduate.

The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued guidelines for implementing regulations for the national high school exam and recognition of high school graduation in 2018, including regulations on exam papers and exam formats.

Like last year, the national high school exam has 5 exams, including 3 independent exams: Math, Literature, Foreign Language and 2 combined exams: Natural Sciences (combination of Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Social Sciences (combination of History, Geography, Civic Education for candidates studying high school education program; combination of History, Geography for candidates studying high school continuing education program). The Literature exam is an essay test, the remaining exams are multiple choice.

The registration period is from April 1 to April 20. After this period, candidates cannot change information about the exam or subjects. Illustration:Ngoc Thanh

To be considered for high school graduation, candidates studying the high school education program must take four exams including Math, Literature, Foreign Language and one exam of their choice from two combined exams. Candidates studying the regular education program must take three exams including Math, Literature and one combined exam of their choice.

Candidates can register to take both combined exams, the higher score will be selected for high school graduation recognition. However, when registering for both Natural Science and Social Science exams, candidates are required to take both exams. Candidates who skip one of the two exams will be considered as not taking enough exams and will not be considered for high school graduation recognition.

Candidates for continuing education can choose to take the Foreign Language test as well, but this test score is only used for university, college, and intermediate school admissions, not for high school graduation recognition.

To apply for university, college, or intermediate level, independent candidates must take independent exams, combined exams, or component exams appropriate to the exam combination and subjects for admission to the major or group of majors according to the regulations of the schools.

Candidates submit their application from April 1 to April 20. After April 20, candidates are not allowed to change their test scores and information about the registered test subjects.
