After the Politburo issued Regulation No. 55 requiring a number of immediate actions to enhance the exemplary role of cadres and party members, including the Politburo's regulation prohibiting the giving and receiving of gifts for personal gain, most party members and people of Tien Giang province strongly agreed with this policy. However, in order for the Politburo's regulation to be strictly implemented, the authorities must do a good job of inspection, supervision and strict handling of these cases.
Mr. Nguyen Van Be Tu, a Party member of My Tho city, Tien Giang province, commented: “The majority of cadres, party members and people strongly agree with the Politburo's regulations to fight corruption and negativity. Regarding gift giving, if there is no recipient, there will be no giver and vice versa. In order for Regulation 55 to be strictly implemented, it is necessary to arrange a team of capable cadres to monitor and handle the situation to the best of their ability, impartially, without cover-ups.”
Mr. Bui Ngoc Thoai, Head of the Front Work Committee in Thoi Binh area, Thoi An ward, O Mon district, Can Tho city, said that there is a situation where some people take advantage of their promotion and increased power to organize meetings, exchanges, and parties to receive envelopes, gifts, and gain benefits for themselves; putting great pressure on subordinates. Meanwhile, the majority of subordinates want to please their superiors in many ways to create favor and consideration when there is a job. This leads to the situation of forming cliques, causing internal disunity in agencies and units.
Mr. Thoai said that Regulation 55 issued by the Politburo is a practical action, supported and agreed by the people. Mr. Bui Ngoc Thoai stated that the country is facing many difficulties and needs to practice thrift. However, the implementation must be consistent from top to bottom and the leader must be exemplary, uphold the spirit and responsibility to properly implement the decision to bring about effectiveness./.
