Vinh City General Hospital has 262 staff, workers and 56 doctors; is a class II hospital with 21 departments and rooms (6 functional rooms, 15 clinical and paraclinical departments), capacity of over 235 beds. The hospital infrastructure includes 5 high-rise buildings (4 treatment buildings and 1 technical building), a spacious and fully-equipped patient waiting room serving patients. The hospital has been equipped with a large capacity generator; modern medical equipment such as: 6-slice CT scanner, digital X-ray machine, 4D ultrasound machine, immunology testing machine, digestive endoscopy system, endoscopic surgery system, ventilator, ultrasonic scalpel, installed additional biochemical machines, blood coagulation machines, urine testing machines... basically meeting the needs of professional development, science and technology, and serving patients.

The Red Cross in collaboration with Vinh City General Hospital examines and provides free medicine to the elderly.

In the past year, in addition to implementing common techniques according to the technical classification list, many new specialized techniques were deployed in departments and rooms, such as: PTNS of all types were routinely performed; retrograde endoscopic lithotripsy with laser; fundus fluorescence angiography; ENT surgery with Plasma - Humer knife; various surgeries with multi-function ultrasonic scalpel system; gastrointestinal intervention endoscopy, etc. In particular, the retrograde endoscopic lithotripsy technique with laser was successfully deployed to treat upper 1/3 ureteral stones very effectively. From there, new, specialized breakthroughs were created in professional development, contributing to minimizing the number of patients who had to be transferred to higher levels. In 2015, the unit had 23 scientific research topics, 4 technical innovation initiatives reported, accepted, and applied to medical examination and treatment. There was a scientific research topic reported at the Nghe An Health Science Conference held in January 2015. In particular, the topic "Application of laser energy for endoscopic retrograde lithotripsy to treat upper 1/3 ureteral stones" won the Third Prize for Science and Technology Innovation of Nghe An province in 2014.

In 2015, the hospital received 123,698 people for medical examination and treatment, including 16,944 inpatients, 2,904 surgical patients... Notably, the number of patients transferred to other hospitals was insignificant.

Organize examination rooms on demand, examine patients all day on Saturdays and Sundays, to meet the maximum needs of medical examination and treatment for the people.
