(Baonghean)On April 23rd, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a conference to evaluate the poverty reduction program for 2011 and the first quarter of 2012. Attending and directing the conference was Mr. Le Xuan Dai, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
The report from the Steering Committee for the Poverty Reduction Program shows that in 2011, the province's poverty reduction programs and targets achieved many positive results: Credit capital for production loans to poor households reached 641 billion VND, support for disadvantaged students reached 887 billion VND, and loans for housing to poor households reached 61 billion VND. Last year, the Steering Committee conducted 69 training courses for officials on poverty alleviation and provided short-term vocational training to 4,876 workers. The entire province provided over 800,000 health insurance cards with funding exceeding 340 billion VND, and the provincial budget allocated 208 billion VND to support housing construction for poor households, eliminating 21,361 dilapidated and temporary houses. In addition, Program 30a and policies supporting ethnic minorities also achieved many positive results.
After the discussion, Comrade Le Xuan Dai concluded by outlining solutions for the entire province to strive to reduce the poverty rate in Nghe An to below 15%.
