Strive to make ornamental plants a valuable economic sector

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 19 in Vinh City, Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association held a ceremony to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association (1989 - 2014) and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association (1994 - 2014).

Attending the event were Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Do Phuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association; Chairmen of Ornamental Plants Associations of neighboring provinces: Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Ha Tinh and many outstanding members.

After 20 years of construction and development, up to now, the province's ornamental plant movement has formed Associations in 13 districts, towns and cities; 150 grassroots associations with 6,000 members. Currently, the whole province has nearly 400 hectares of ornamental plant production and trading, 40 enterprises, garden houses, 7 ornamental plant craft villages, 69 driftwood processing establishments, 35 rockery establishments, 109 households producing ornamental pots... The total capital invested by the people in ornamental plants is estimated at nearly 500 billion VND, creating jobs for over 3,000 workers. In the activities of the Association, grassroots associations at all levels always attach importance to fostering ornamental plant knowledge for members, and have organized 95 vocational training classes for 1,000 members; actively participate in designing, arranging, planting, and taking care of flowers and ornamental plants in offices, welfare projects, and historical and cultural relics... In particular, the Provincial Ornamental Plants Association has selected over 100 works of art to participate in the exhibition 1000 years of Thang Long - Hanoi, leaving many impressions on visitors about the ornamental plant movement in Nghe An.

With efforts in activities, over the past time, 124 outstanding units and individuals have been awarded, including 12 certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee, 27 certificates of merit from the Central Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association, 89 certificates of merit from the Nghe An Provincial Association and many other certificates of merit. Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Do Phuong praised and acknowledged the results that the Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association has achieved. He requested the Association to make efforts to exploit and promote the potential of ornamental plant resources in the province, preserve and conserve rare ornamental plants; continue to build and strengthen the Association at all levels, contributing to making ornamental plants nationwide a valuable economic sector.

Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to individuals with outstanding achievements in the SVC movement of Nghe An province.

Also at the ceremony, Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association announced the commendation decisions of the Central Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association, awarded certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the Association's work. On this occasion, Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association awarded the first "For the cause of developing Vietnamese ornamental plants" Commemorative Medal to 77 individuals with achievements in the ornamental plant movement in Nghe An province.
