Striving to turn ornamental plant breeding into a valuable economic sector.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 19th in Vinh City, the Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association held a ceremony to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association (1989 - 2014) and the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association (1994 - 2014).

Attending the event were Ms. Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Do Phuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association; Chairmen of the Ornamental Plants Associations of neighboring provinces: Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Ha Tinh and a large number of outstanding members.

Over the past 20 years of development, the ornamental plant movement in the province has established associations in 13 districts, towns, and cities; 150 grassroots branches with 6,000 members. Currently, the province has nearly 400 hectares of land dedicated to the production and trading of ornamental plants, 40 enterprises and nurseries, 7 ornamental plant craft villages, 69 driftwood carving establishments, 35 miniature landscape construction establishments, and 109 households producing ornamental pots… The total capital invested by the people in ornamental plants is estimated at nearly 500 billion VND, providing employment for over 3,000 workers. In the activities of the Association, grassroots branches always prioritize training members in ornamental plant knowledge, having organized 95 vocational training classes for 1,000 members. They actively participate in designing, arranging, planting, and caring for flowers and ornamental plants in offices, public works, and cultural and historical relics... In particular, the Provincial Ornamental Plants Association selected over 100 artistic works to participate in the exhibition commemorating 1000 years of Thang Long-Hanoi, leaving a strong impression on visitors about the ornamental plants movement in Nghe An province.

Thanks to their efforts, 124 outstanding units and individuals have been awarded, including 12 commendations from the Provincial People's Committee, 27 commendations from the Central Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association, 89 commendations from the Nghe An Provincial Association, and many other commendations and certificates. Speaking at the anniversary ceremony, Comrade Do Phuong praised and acknowledged the achievements of the Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association. He urged the Association to strive to exploit and develop the potential of ornamental plant resources in the province, preserve and conserve rare and valuable ornamental plants; and continue to build and strengthen the Association at all levels, contributing to making ornamental plants a valuable economic sector nationwide.

Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, presented Certificates of Commendation to individuals with outstanding achievements in the student volunteer movement in Nghe An province.

Also at the ceremony, the Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association announced the commendation decisions of the Central Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association and awarded certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the Association's work. On this occasion, the Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association awarded the "For the Development of Vietnamese Ornamental Plants" commemorative medal (first phase) to 77 individuals with outstanding achievements in the ornamental plants movement in Nghe An province.
