Strive to complete the renovation of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in July 2024
According to the original plan, the upgrading of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Vinh City would be completed during the past April 30 - May 1, however, up to now, this street still has some items that have not been completed due to many difficulties.
Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street has a total length of nearly 1.4km, including 2 sections: Le Loi to Le Hong Phong intersection is 289m long and the section from Le Hong Phong intersection to the Provincial Post Office intersection is nearly 1.1km long. This is the central and busiest business street in Vinh City.

At the end of 2023, Vinh City started construction to renovate and upgrade this road with a total cost of over 80 billion VND. The upgrade is expected to be completed during the period from April 30 to May 1.
According to the reporter's records, many items on this route such as sidewalk renovation, curb construction, ditch weaving, renovation of communication systems, lighting, drainage ditches, and tree planting were basically completed in early May 2023.

Currently, on this street there are about 100 old electric poles, and a tangled network of telecommunication cables, which is both dangerous and unsightly. This is also a part of the road improvement plan, but for over a month, according to the reporter's records, there has been no construction work to complete the road, causing concern among the people.
Mr. Nguyen Phi Hai, a business owner on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, said: The electric poles and meter boxes on this street have been there for decades and are now old and damaged. Many telecommunication cables hang low, posing a danger to pedestrians.

The characteristic of this road is that there are many businesses and government agencies, the hot season increases the electricity consumption, posing a risk of fire and explosion for the old electrical system. It is worth mentioning that some electrical boxes mounted on the electric poles have been broken and damaged, the protection from the rainy and sunny weather is no longer guaranteed, plus the tangled telecommunication network coils increase the risk of electrical short circuit.
Discussing this issue, Mr. Pham Sy Hoang - Director of Vinh City Electricity said: The dismantling of old electric poles and the renovation of the electrical system on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street depends on the unit in charge of constructing the road. Currently, the unit has not received a specific plan on this issue, so it is not possible to coordinate the dismantling. In addition, before dismantling the electric poles, there will be a rotational power outage, so it is necessary to carefully consider and calculate a reasonable time to carry out the work, limiting the impact on households and units during the hot season.

According to the Vinh City Project Management Board - the construction unit of this road, the renovation of the electrical system is slower than expected because this is a rather complicated project, requiring coordination with the electricity sector to implement. According to the plan, the city will remove 102 old electric poles, transfer 180 electric meters of households into 20 new compact electrical cabinets, ensuring aesthetics, and bury all electric wires and telecommunications cables underground.

The unit has sent a document to Vinh City Electricity, requesting the electricity side to accept items such as burying the 22KV line, renovating transformer stations, burying the 0.4KV power system, from which a plan and estimated construction time for this item can be made. However, the unit will also strive to complete the renovation of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in July 2024.
