(Baonghean.vn) – On December 14, opposition lawmakers threw tear gas into the annual session of the Kosovo Parliament to prevent agreements towards normalizing relations with Serbia.

Two opposition MPs, Glauk Konjufca and Time Kadrijaj, were the ones who threw tear gas during the parliamentary session discussing the Serbia issue. Immediately after the incident, the head of the parliament, Kadri Veseli, suspended the session.

Last September, opposition lawmakers threw eggs at Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafia. This is the sixth time in the past two months that Konjufca and Kadrijaj have thrown tear gas at meetings.

Congressman Konjufca stated:

“Yes, I threw tear gas. We will continue because the consequences of this action are nothing compared to the damage caused by the agreements we oppose.”

It is known that Mr. Konjufca is the Vice President of the Vetevendosje movement of the opposition party. This party is also the factor that caused the activities of the parliament to be interrupted many times.

According to information from the opposition, MPs from this party will find every way to block it until the Kosovo Parliament abandons the agreements to normalize relations between Serbia and Kosovo, which were signed in 2013 under the auspices of the European Union.

Kosovo, with its majority Albanian population, was formerly part of Serbia. In 2008, Kosovo unilaterally declared independence, which Serbia does not recognize. The signing of normalization agreements with Serbia has led many to fear that Kosovo's fledgling independence will be violated.
