Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that Russia sees no prospects for improving relations between Moscow and Washington after the US midterm congressional elections.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Peskov stated: "We can state with certainty that there are no bright prospects for normalizing relations between Russia and the United States."
Meanwhile, on the same day, observers studying China-US relations said that China will closely monitor whether US President Donald Trump will change his tough stance towards Beijing after the midterm congressional elections.
The midterm elections saw the Republican Party lose its majority in the House of Representatives for the first time in eight years, fueling speculation that President Trump may face a number of challenges in implementing his “America First” policies.
However, many government officials and political experts in China share the view that relations between Beijing and Washington will not improve easily, given that the Democratic Party is also likely to take a tough stance on China.
