On the afternoon of January 4, the Ministry of Public Security confirmed that Phan Van Anh Vu (also known as Vu "nhom") was arrested after arriving at Noi Bai International Airport.
The announcement of the Ministry of Public Security stated: Phan Van Anh Vu, born in 1975, residing at 82 Tran Quoc Toan, Hai Chau district, Da Nang city, violated Vietnamese law and fled his residence.
On December 21, 2017, the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency issued a wanted notice for Phan Van Anh Vu; when he fled, Phan Van Anh Vu violated Singapore's Immigration Law and was deported.
On January 4, 2018, the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency received and arrested suspect Phan Van Anh Vu and conducted an investigation in accordance with the law.

At nearly 4:00 p.m. on January 4, flight VN662 took off at 1:25 p.m. (Singapore time) carrying Vu "nhom" from Singapore to Hanoi, landing at Noi Bai airport.
Singapore's Straits Times newspaper reported that "Phan Van Anh Vu" was stopped at Singapore's Tuas checkpoint on December 28.
