Phan Văn Đức scores, Hanoi Police FC defeats Thai League champions.

On the evening of August 22nd, Hanoi Police Club played their opening match in the 2024/25 Southeast Asian Club Championship against Buriram United. This is considered a very strong opponent, as the team is the reigning Thai League champion.

Buriram United is currently the dominant force in Thai football with three consecutive championships. In their first appearance in the regional tournament, the team is determined to win the title to further enhance their impressive collection of achievements.

Playing away at Hang Day Stadium, the Thai team was without their captain, Theerathon Bunmathan. Nevertheless, the Thai side was still highly rated in terms of strength, possessing top-class players such as the striking duo Crispim and Bissoli, along with the Thai national team players Phitiwat and Supachai.

On the other side of the pitch, the home team, Hanoi Police FC, has also invested heavily to prepare for their goals in the 2024/25 season. The police team has recruited a host of stars such as Jason Quang Vinh, Dinh Trong, Dinh Bac, Hugo Gomes, Leo Artur, Vitao, and Alan. These new recruits will combine with other quality veterans like Quang Hai and Viet Anh.

Entering the match, the home team, Hanoi Police, started better, with coach Polking's players displaying fluid attacks down the flanks. In the very first minute, Van Thanh dribbled from the right wing, cut inside, and delivered a beautiful cross for Van Duc to head. However, the header was inaccurate.

But just a few minutes later, Phan Văn Đức had no reason to regret it when the number 20 of Hanoi Police received the ball from the left wing and unleashed a long-range shot. The opposing goalkeeper failed to make a good save and the ball went into the net, opening the scoring for the match.

After conceding a goal, Buriram United pressed forward in attack. In the 16th minute, Supachai broke free on the right wing and unleashed a powerful shot, but goalkeeper Filip Nguyen managed to close the angle. The first half ended with a 1-0 lead for the home team.

In the second half, Buriram United took the initiative, pushing forward in search of an equalizer. In the 49th minute, Tabinas headed the ball into Nguyen Filip's net, leveling the score for the Thai team. The second half saw a breathtakingly exciting match, with both sides creating numerous chances at each other's goal. While Bissoli was unlucky with a shot hitting the post, on the other side, striker Alan capitalized on Vitao's perfect pass to head the ball into the net, giving Hanoi Police a 2-1 lead.

In the remaining minutes, despite their best efforts, the Thai League champions were unable to find an equalizer. Ultimately, Hanoi Police won 2-1 against Buriram United.
