Phan Van Duc wants to play abroad

PV: As one of the successful and beloved players since playing for the Vietnam U23 team, please tell us how your life has changed since joining the national team and achieving success with the team?

“I joined the training camp late after being discovered at the 2017 National U21 Championship. During my training at the national team, I was truly grateful to Coach Park Hang-seo for giving me certain favors.

Returning from the AFC U23 Championship, my life has changed and been disrupted. I never thought that my teammates and I would be welcomed by fans and asked to take photos. It was an extremely happy thing.”

PV: Which foot is Duc better with? What is the secret to Duc being able to play football well with both feet? Who is Duc's idol in the world?

“I am right-footed, but my left foot is also quite good because in training I often shoot with my left foot so my left foot also has a good feeling for the ball.

Since I was 10 years old, I have been able to play football with both feet. When given the chance, I would shoot with my left foot and dribble with my right foot when the going was good.

Every day we have to practice receiving the ball. To be able to play well as a striker, I have to complete the first-step receiving exercises at SLNA. This is very important, when my teammates pass the ball to me, I will try to keep the ball in an area that I can control.

My idol is Eden Hazard. My playing style is greatly influenced by Eden Hazard's style of play."

PV: Talking about the 2019 V.League season, what do you think about SLNA's squad and your own expectations?

“This year, SLNA welcomes the return of players like Van Binh, Dinh Dong, Quang Tinh. They are experienced and senior players, who will be the foundation for us to confidently compete. Hopefully this year, my team and I will win a position in the top 3 strongest teams of V.League 2019.

At the beginning of the year, Mr. Trong Hoang intended to return to SLNA. He is a gentle, sociable player with good skills. I really wanted to be his teammate but I couldn't do that, so I'm quite regretful. But without Mr. Trong Hoang, we would still play as usual, like last year too."

PV: Playing well at the U23 Asian Cup, Asiad 18, AFF Cup and Asian Cup, many teams want to make an offer to Germany. What does Germany think about this?

“I haven’t reached my peak yet, but I feel lucky. I still have a lot of things to improve and have to try harder. Hopefully, I will be able to play abroad soon. Many clubs in Japan have contacted me and sent me offers to go there. I think now is not the right time to leave. When I can communicate well in English and especially feel capable of moving to a new environment, I will try playing abroad.”
