Exposing the biggest corruption case in the history of the Russian Ministry of Defense
The Russian Investigative Committee is investigating a criminal case of corruption in the country's Defense Ministry in the amount of up to 368 million rubles (more than 6 million dollars), - the newspaper "Kommersant" reported citing its own sources.

According to the newspaper, the key figure in the case is the head of the Technical Supply Department of the Military Logistics Department, Colonel Alexandr Vakulin. He is accused of embezzling funds during the purchase of kitchens, ovens, tank trucks and other specialized technical equipment.
Investigators said the colonel also promised to protect businessmen involved in the transaction. Alexandr Vakulin has been taken to a detention center for investigation until October 29.
Kommersant newspaper stressed that 46-year-old officer Vakulin had recently moved to Moscow. Before that, he served in the Kaliningrad region and was considered a promising officer who had made a successful career in the military.
