Vietnam's Su-152 cannon has the ability to destroy tanks.
In addition to the mission of providing fire support for infantry and shelling enemy targets, Vietnam's Su-152 artillery also has extremely strong anti-tank capabilities.
Considered the twin brother of the Su-122, the Su-152 self-propelled gun was in service with the Vietnamese artillery when it was also developed by the Soviet Union and put into service in 1971. This type of gun was also produced in very large quantities, the production line operating until 1993 when it ended.
The Su-152 self-propelled gun is equipped with a 152mm D22 gun, with a rate of fire of 3-4 rounds/minute, in theory it can fire 30 rounds/10 minutes or 75 rounds/hour. The number of ammunition stored in the vehicle is about 40 rounds, usually including 36 fragmentation rounds and 4 anti-tank rounds.

Similar to the Su-122, the D22 gun is an improved design from the 152mm D20 towed gun, so it uses the same types of D20 ammunition as tracer rounds, fragmentation rounds, anti-tank rounds, illumination rounds, and even nuclear rounds. The later Su-152M variant can also fire the Krasnopol high-precision guided round.
To counter tanks, the Su-152 self-propelled gun has an elevation angle of -4 degrees to +60 degrees, mounted in a 360-degree rotating turret. With explosive shells weighing 43-34 kg, the Su-152's 152mm gun can create a terrible shock that can kill the crew of an armored combat vehicle instantly.
With this equipment, the Su-152 is considered an extremely effective anti-tank weapon as it can tear apart any tank, even the best armored. In addition to the main weapon, the 152mm cannon, the Su-152 also has a 7.62mm anti-aircraft machine gun mounted on the roof of the turret. The gunner can control the fire from inside the vehicle without having to get out.
Not only strong in firepower, the Su-152 is also highly appreciated for its mobility when the Su-152 uses the tracked chassis of the SA-4 air-to-air missile system, equipped with a 520 horsepower diesel engine allowing it to reach a speed of 60km/h. The Su-152 cannon can overcome ramparts 1.1m high, trenches 2.5m wide and has an operating range of up to 300km.
Despite possessing many modern weapons, the Su-152 self-propelled gun is still highly regarded in the Russian artillery force. During a live-fire exercise in late March 2017 on the Kamchatka Peninsula, the Su-152 gun continued to demonstrate its power and reliability when it successfully destroyed the target with its first volley.

According to data published by Global Firepower, although Vietnam's artillery force possesses about 2,200 artillery pieces of various types, ranking 8th in the world, 6th in Asia and leading in Southeast Asia, the number of self-propelled artillery pieces in Vietnam is not large. The main strength of this force lies in two types of artillery: Su-122 and Su-152.
