France has the youngest new president in history

AFPCiting information from Mr. Macron's campaign team, Mr. Macron and Mrs. Macron said that after the preliminary results were announced, Mr. Macron and Mrs. MacronLe Pen had a "brief and friendly" phone call. Ms.Le Pen wishes himMacron "succeeded" in dealing with "huge challenges" in the future.
Responding to AFP, heMacron said his victory in the presidential election opened up "hope" and "a new chapter" for France."A new chapter in our long history begins tonight. I hope it brings new hope and confidence," he said.Macron said.

Emmanuel Macron, 39, is the leader of the En Marche party, which he only founded in April last year.GrandfatherMacronserved as economy minister in the government of French President Francois Hollande and has worked as a financial inspector and investment banker at Rothschild & Cie.
Mr. Macron has an open stance towards refugees, advocates increasing the defense budget and is committed to maintaining France's relationship with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
After resigning as economy minister last year, Mr Macron declared that he had “reached the limits of the system of government” and thus launched his bid for the Elysee Palace.
Mr Macron's election campaign promised to overhaul France's pension and welfare systems, and he has outlined plans for a series of pro-business measures to boost the country's economy if elected.
Mr Macron has pledged to gradually cut corporate tax to 25% from the current 33%. He also wants to lower local property taxes for most French people.
In addition, Mr. Macron is also a strong voice against terrorism and upholds the rule of law. He wants to hire more police to ensure security and safety for people's lives in the context of France recently becoming a target of terrorist attacks.
Ahead of the decisive second round of voting, former US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel both announced their support for Mr Macron.
