France: Full view of the 'crazy' truck that crashed into the crowd celebrating National Day in Nice

(Baonghean.vn) - On July 14, a truck crashed into a crowd gathered on the street.Promenadedes Anglais in Nice to attend the city's Bastille Day fireworks display, killing at least 80 people.

At around 10:45 p.m. French time (3:45 a.m. Vietnam time), on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, a white truck crashed into pedestrians.

By 11:20 p.m., the Alpes-Maritimes district authorities had announced the attack and asked residents to stay at home.

According to the mayor and witnesses at the scene, there were many victims in the attack.

The former mayor and current president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Regional Council, Christian Estrosi, mentioned "dozens of dead".

Another Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regional leader said the truck driver had been shot.

President Francois Hollande returned to Paris at midnight and declared a crisis.

Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve is on his way to the Promenade des Anglais.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls is currently in Beauvau Square to direct security operations.

Currently, the Interior Ministry said that investigators are looking for accomplices and affirmed that there were no hostages in the above case.

The death toll in the attack continues to rise, with "at least 70 dead so far and this is still a very preliminary assessment".
