The People's Committee of Nam Sach district (Hai Duong province) has just issued a decision to administratively fine Ms. Ph.X.Tr. (born in 1993, permanent residence in An Lam commune, Nam Sach) VND 10 million for the crime of providing false information, slander, and distortion on Facebook, insulting the reputation of agencies, organizations, and the honor and dignity of individuals.
Ms. Ph.X.Tr. also had her iPhone 5s used to post false information on social media confiscated.
Previously, at 12:14 on January 22, Ms. Tr. posted a picture of a young man with a bandaged head injury being treated by people on her personal Facebook page and stated that the reason was that he went to withdraw money from an ATM located near An Phat Group Joint Stock Company and was robbed. But in reality, this incident did not happen, it was just a fight due to a personal conflict.
Immediately afterwards, this distorted information spread rapidly on social networks, affecting security and order in the area, causing panic among the public, and making many people afraid to withdraw money at ATMs in the area.
