The writing contest with the theme "Memories of School Days," launched by the Education and Times Newspaper, took place on the morning of March 18th. This activity aims to create a forum for readers to share memories and recollections of their school days, with the cherished feelings each person has for their teachers, friends, school, and family.

"Let cherished memories speak for themselves! Touching, witty, and humane stories revived from memory will help today's readers, especially the younger generation, touch upon the beauty of character, soul, and the traditional moral values ​​of the nation," that's the reason given by the organizers when the "School Memories" contest was launched at this time.

Recalling the strong impact of the successful writing contest on "My Teacher" organized by the Education and Times Newspaper, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia welcomed the newspaper's initiative with a writing contest on the theme "Memories of School Days". The contest is even more meaningful as the main sponsors are schools – members of the education sector.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Nghia shared: “‘Memories of School Days’ will certainly attract many participants, from students to teachers and people working in various fields, including professional writers… because everyone was once a student, and has memories of their time in school.”

As the head of the competition organizing committee, journalist Nguyen Ngoc Nam, Editor-in-Chief of the Education and Times Newspaper, shared: "The competition is one of the meaningful activities leading up to the 55th anniversary of the first issue of the Education and Times Newspaper. The organizing committee will strive to make the competition a success, contributing another practical activity to the fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training."

Contest rules:

1. Eligible contestants

As Vietnamese citizens residing in Vietnam and abroad who are interested in education and training, we voluntarily participate and commit to complying with the regulations of the competition.

2. Form

Each author may submit one or more works to the competition.

- Articles should be handwritten or typed on one side of the paper. Authors must clearly state their full name, pen name, contact address, phone number, and email address (if any), and can be submitted by mail, in person at the editorial office, or via email.[email protected]

3. Entry length: Maximum 2,000 words.

- Entries should be in the following forms: notes, essays, memoirs, or recollections.

- The author of the entry is legally responsible for the accuracy and truthfulness of the information reflected in the submitted work.

4. Time of organization

- Submission period begins: April 1, 2014

- The deadline for submissions is November 5, 2014 (based on the postmark date).

- The awards ceremony is scheduled for December 2014.
