Launching the World Office Informatics Championship in Vietnam

The Organizing Committee of the World Office Informatics Championship in Vietnam officially launched the competition on a national scale on December 11.

Along with this event, the Organizing Committee also awarded certificates of merit to 3 contestants participating in the World Finals. Among them, Nguyen Thi Hien Gia, the only girl of the Vietnamese team (a student of Foreign Trade University) won the Bronze Medal in the Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 category.

Contestant Hien Gia is the face that brought the Bronze Medal to the Vietnamese team at the 2015 competition.

The 2016 World Office Championship is completely free for contestants at the National and International rounds.

All contestants between the ages of 13 and 22 (as of June 15, 2016) are encouraged to participate in the contest. However, contestants who have won the First Prize in the National Finals of this contest will not be eligible to participate.

Mr. Doan Hong Nam, Head of the Organizing Committee, said that in addition to the common points with last year, this year's contest has many breakthroughs. Specifically, the number of contest subjects will double (from 3 contest contents to 6 contents) including Microsoft Word 2010, Microsoft Word 2013; Microsoft Excel 2010, Microsoft Excel 2013; Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, Microsoft PowerPoint 2013. In addition, the award structure will also increase, with awards for contestants by region.

“With 4 consecutive years of high rankings in the International Competitions, we hope that the 2016 Vietnam team will continue to promote its capacity and intelligence to further extend our proud streak of achievements,” said Mr. Doan Hong Nam.

The 6 contestants who win National First Prize in the 6 above mentioned categories will have all expenses covered to compete in the World Finals held in Orlando, Florida, USA from August 7-10, 2016 for a chance to win the first prize worth 7,500 USD.

The contest in Vietnam is organized by IIG Vietnam, Viettel, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, and the Ministry of Education and Training.
