Launching the 2014 Month of Action for Children

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of May 28th, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An province, in coordination with the People's Committee of Nghia Dan district, organized the launching ceremony for the 2014 Month of Action for Children. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Vi Ngoc Quynh - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An province, representatives from relevant provincial departments and agencies, and representatives from cities, districts, and towns in the province.

At the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Vi Ngoc Quynh emphasized: In recent years, with the attention of the Party, the State, families and the whole society, the majority of children have received better care and enjoyed the best conditions and values. Nghia Dan district in particular, and Nghe An province in general, have taken practical actions to care for and educate children. However, the situation of poor children, ethnic minority children, disabled children dropping out of school, children suffering accidents and injuries, children violating the law, malnourished and stunted children, and especially children being subjected to violence, beatings, abuse, and exploitation, still persists.

This year's launch ceremony for the Month of Action for Children, themed "Acting for a society free from violence and abuse against children," holds special significance, aiming to raise awareness and concern throughout society regarding the education and development of children; highlighting the role of Party committees, government agencies, organizations, associations, families, and communities in promoting preventive measures, interventions, and assistance for children in special circumstances; focusing on addressing the issue of child sexual abuse, labor exploitation, trafficking, and violence; and building child-friendly communes and wards…

The Provincial Association for the Protection of Disabled People and Orphans and district leaders presented gifts to disabled children.

On this occasion, Prudential Insurance Company of Nghe An Province donated 20 bicycles worth 20 million VND to students in difficult circumstances; the Provincial Children's Protection Fund awarded 20 gifts to poor children with high academic achievements; the Provincial Association for the Protection of Disabled People and Orphans awarded 5 gifts to disabled children; the Nghia Dan District Children's Protection Fund also donated 80 gifts to disadvantaged, academically excellent and well-behaved children in the district… In addition, political and social organizations in the district such as the Labor Union, the Women's Union, the District Youth Union, and philanthropists and businesses also provided practical gifts to poor and academically excellent children.
