Launching a campaign to support victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.
(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of August 7th, in Vinh City, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province organized a ceremony to launch a campaign to support victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in 2013.
Currently, the province has over 23,000 victims of Agent Orange/dioxin poisoning who urgently need the support, assistance, and care of society.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nguyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, called on all levels, sectors, and all compatriots and soldiers to continue promoting solidarity, remembering the source of blessings, and showing mutual support to act for the victims of Agent Orange, continuing to support and assist Agent Orange victims both materially and spiritually through practical and concrete actions. The target donation levels are: cadres, civil servants, and armed forces personnel should donate at least one day's salary; pensioners should donate 20,000 VND/person; and the general public should donate 5,000-10,000 VND/person.

In the first phase of 2013, districts and cities contributed nearly 1.2 billion VND to the Agent Orange/dioxin victims' fund and disbursed support to 13 individuals for house construction; 44 individuals for production capital; 46 scholarships for students who are children of Agent Orange victims; and 965 gifts for other beneficiaries.
The Month of Action for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin began in August 2013 and ended in September 2013.
