Issuing postage stamps about President Vo Chi Cong
On August 7, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chairman of the State Council Vo Chi Cong, the Ministry of Information and Communications coordinated with VietnamPost to issue a postage stamp set "Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Vo Chi Cong's birth (August 7, 1912 - September 8, 2011)."
The stamp commemorating the 100th birthday of State Council Chairman Vo Chi Cong was designed by artist Vu Kim Lien, including one stamp measuring 31x46mm, priced at 2,000 VND.
Stamp set and envelope commemorating the 100th anniversary of Vo Chi Cong's birth (August 7, 1912 - September 8, 2011).
Issued together with this stamp is a first-date-issue envelope (FDC) measuring 180x110 mm, introducing the image of President Vo Chi Cong's memorial house in his hometown of Quang Nam.
Stamps are printed in multi-color offset on standard paper with coated back at the Post Office Stamp Printing Company (Ho Chi Minh City).
President Vo Chi Cong (birth name Vo Toan) was born on August 7, 1912, in Tam Xuan commune, Tam Ky district, Quang Nam-Da Nang province (now Quang Nam). Born into a family with a rich tradition of patriotism, he was soon enlightened about the revolution and participated in the youth movement at the grassroots level from 1930-1931.
In May 1935, he was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party (now the Communist Party of Vietnam). As a revolutionary and an outstanding politician of Vietnam, he held the position of Chairman of the State Council (1987-1992) and held many other important positions such as: Secretary of the Quang Nam-Da Nang Provincial Party Committee; Deputy Secretary of the Central Bureau for Southern Vietnam, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the National Liberation Front of Southern Vietnam; Deputy Head of the Central Party and Government Representative Board in the South; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Seafood, Minister of Agriculture; Member of the Party Central Committee (terms III, IV, V, VI); Member of the Politburo (terms IV, V, VI); Advisor to the Party Central Committee (1991-1997); National Assembly Delegate (terms VI, VII, VIII)./.
