* Investigating a group of individuals who assaulted fishermen and destroyed their property.
On October 19th, the Border Guard Command of the province reported that the Provincial Border Guard Command had directed the Dien Thanh Border Guard Post and the Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port Border Guard Post to coordinate with relevant units to urgently investigate and clarify the incident in which fishermen and their vessels were attacked and their property damaged by a group of individuals. Previously, in the coastal area of Nghi Yen commune, Nghi Loc district (approximately 6 nautical miles from shore), a brawl occurred between a group of people on a fishing raft and a vessel with registration number NA 2770 TS, consisting of three people: Cao Duc Lap, 39 years old, the captain; Hoang Van Nhuong, 65 years old; and Nguyen Van Ten, 70 years old, all residing in Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district. The incident reportedly stemmed from the NA 2770 TS vessel getting entangled in the nets of another fisherman's raft while trawling (the name and ownership of the raft are unknown). Shortly afterwards, about 20 people on a raft, armed with knives and sticks, stormed the fishing boat belonging to the fishermen from Dien Ngoc commune, repeatedly attacking the three people on board and stealing a GPS device and a mobile phone (which were returned after being submerged in water).
As a result of the altercation, Mr. Lap was seriously injured, and Mr. Nhuong and Mr. Yen were thrown into the sea, but fortunately they were rescued in time and their lives were not in danger.
