Nghe An Water Supply Joint Stock Company discovered discharging sludge into Cua Nam regulating lake

At the scene, authorities discovered a sewer pipe connecting from the settling pond of Hung Vinh Water Plant under Nghe An Water Supply Joint Stock Company to the regulating pond. Water and sludge continuously flowed into this pond.

In the distance, the layer of young mud continuously bubbles, the layer of mud has settled thickly, floating on the surface of the lake. The thickness of the layer of mud compared to the bottom of the lake is about 2m.

According to Mr. Phan Quang Phan, Vinh Xuan block, Dong Vinh ward (Vinh city), this situation has been happening for many days now, but because the water level is high, there is no mud yet, only a cloudy color. This morning, people walked to the lake and discovered that the waste mud from the sewer was still flowing out, and the mud layer had formed a thick layer on the lake surface.

The incident was reported to the authorities by the people. Immediately afterwards, the Environmental Police Department of Nghe An Province Police presided over and coordinated with representatives of the Environmental Protection Department, Vinh City People's Committee, Cua Nam Ward, Dong Vinh Ward and the people to collect muddy water samples for analysis.

Authorities have requested Nghe An Water Supply Joint Stock Company to immediately stop discharging waste in violation of regulations and send representatives to work to make a record of the incident.
