After being detected, many vehicles showing signs of being oversized or overloaded stopped in an empty plot of land along the Vinh City bypass road.

Mr. Phan Huy Chuong, Deputy Chief Inspector of Traffic, stated: “After receiving reports from the public about a convoy of trucks carrying timber that appeared to be overloaded, we directed the Traffic Inspection Team of Area 2 (directly managing the area) to go to the scene to investigate. Initial findings indicate the convoy originated from Ha Tinh province with approximately 20 trucks. They were discovered about 1 km after crossing the Ben Thuy 2 bridge. However, by the time authorities arrived at the scene, only truck 37R-00456 was still on the road.”

"We are currently requesting the transport company to present documents proving the origin of this timber. After inspection, if the vehicle is found to be in violation of oversized or overloaded regulations, it will be strictly dealt with according to the law. However, initially, the driver was uncooperative, stopping the vehicle on the side of the road during the inspection by our unit," Mr. Chuong added.

Earlier, on the afternoon of November 14, 2014, in Anh Son district, the provincial traffic inspectorate, in coordination with the 1-7 traffic police force, ambushed and apprehended 21 large trucks (overloaded by 60 to 80%) carrying timber from Laos through Nghe An.
