Interpol Red Notice Subject Discovered
Vinh Phuc Provincial Police have just discovered that Kim JiWon (32 years old), a Korean national, is a subject wanted by Interpol and is residing in an apartment building in the area.
On May 3, information from Vinh Phuc Provincial Police informed that in April, during the process of checking the residence of foreigners at Lafortuna apartment building, Vinh Yen city, this unit discovered a Korean citizen who did not declare temporary residence, did not have valid labor records, and showed signs of illegal residence.
Immediately afterwards, the Immigration Department, Vinh Phuc Provincial Police deployed professional measures, coordinating with units to verify identity through the system.
Through inspection, the authorities discovered that the subject was Kim JiWon, who had been sentenced to 10 months in prison by a Korean court for organizing transnational gambling in 2019.
This subject is currently wanted by the Interpol General Secretariat for the crime of opening an illegal online betting site.
According to the police, Kim Ji Won graduated from Buchoen University with a degree in robotics programming. After graduating, Kim Ji Won worked in the technology sector in Korea, then went to Cambodia to participate in an online gambling advertising organization.
In February 2024, Kim JiWon was sponsored by Plan In Vietnam Limited Liability Company to enter Vietnam to work.
In September 2024, Kim Ji Won quit working at the above company but did not report to the Immigration Department, continued to use the temporary residence card issued to reside and operate in Vietnam and secretly traveled through many provinces and cities.
At the police station, Kim Jiwon confessed to all violations during his entry, residence and activities in Vietnam.
Vinh Phuc Provincial Police have issued a Decision to administratively fine Kim JiWon a fine of 17.5 million VND and an additional penalty of deportation.
Subject Kim JiWon was handed over by Vinh Phuc Provincial Police to Accommodation Facility No. 1 - Ministry of Public Security to complete documents and procedures to proceed with the next steps according to regulations.
