SputnikOn December 25, the Argentine Navy announced: "The destroyer Sarandi of the Argentine Navy discovered two new suspicious objects at depths of 500m and 700m respectively. These objects will be identified when weather conditions are favorable for the search submarines to operate."
The statement said that bad weather in the search area for the ARA San Juan submarine did not allow the Malvinas Islands ship with a Russian remote-controlled diving vehicle to conduct a deep dive to identify the suspicious object.
Currently, the Argentine ship Puerto Argentino and the US survey ship Atlantis continue to operate in the search area and may coordinate with the Russian Navy survey ship Yantar.
The ARA San Juan submarine went missing on November 15 with 44 sailors on board in the South Atlantic after reporting to shore control that water had entered the ventilation ducts, causing a short circuit.
The Argentine Navy, citing investigative sources, said that about three hours after the ship last made contact, an international monitoring organization recorded an unusual sound similar to a large explosion near where the ship went missing.
Some experts believe that the ship may have experienced a powerful explosion and therefore the hope of survival of the 44 sailors on board is almost gone.
