This is the amount of prohibited goods that the Danang Postal Express Joint Stock Company has contracted to transport on flights VJ520 from Danang to Hanoi and VJ649 from Danang to Ho Chi Minh City. Prohibited goods detected at Da Nang airport

Mr. Ha Huu Hoang - Deputy Director of the Danang Airport Aviation Security Center said that airport security officers are well-trained in detecting and discovering unusual signs from shipments. Therefore, many cases of dangerous weapons being transported by air have been discovered. Meanwhile, the Danang Postal Express Joint Stock Company has customers who come to send and receive goods and mail without carefully checking the information of the sender as well as the goods.

On the night of March 17, employees of the Danang Postal Express Joint Stock Company brought these 13 mail bags to the control gate. Although they claimed that the goods in the mail were just documents and common items, when they were weighed, they found them to be very heavy. When the security officers discovered signs of abnormality, they asked for more information about the shipment, but the staff transporting the mail bags appeared confused and did not know what the goods were.

The Danang Airport Security Center immediately conducted a thorough search of the shipment. At the same time, it also immediately reported to the Hai Chau District Police to jointly prepare a case file. When the 13 mail bags were opened, there were a total of 77 electric batons with integrated flashlights inside. This type of baton is only equipped for security forces on duty and is a prohibited item.

Warning of prohibited goods at the airport

According to the Danang Airport Security Center, recently, airport security forces have continuously detected shipments of prohibited goods sent by air. The prohibited goods are mainly electric batons, number eight locks, iron bullet guns, etc. One of the camouflage tricks that shippers often apply is to wrap the goods tightly in paper that can prevent inspection by security scanners. From January 2016 to now, airport security forces have discovered 12 cases with over 100 supporting tools sent by subjects by air. The main destinations for shipments are Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Not long ago, airport security personnel discovered passengers transporting… grenades, wrapped in many layers, as luggage. Many passengers knew they were transporting prohibited goods but still deliberately brought them on the plane.

Faced with the above worrying situation, the Danang Airport Security Center has taken many positive and drastic measures, which is to temporarily suspend the transportation of goods with express delivery companies that violate the law for the first time. For companies that violate the law many times, the cargo transportation contract will be terminated, and recommendations will be sent to the authorities to handle these express delivery companies. Because the negligence and subjectivity of express delivery companies is also the main reason for "hot goods" and prohibited goods to be smuggled into the airport.
