Counterfeit drug for severe bacterial infections discovered
Lincomycon 500mg belongs to the group of antiparasitic and anti-infective drugs used in severe infections of the ear, nose and throat, bronchi-lungs, mouth, skin, genitals, bones and joints, abdomen, blood infection... The danger is that counterfeit drugs are found on the market. Using counterfeit drugs is very dangerous because the infection cannot be controlled.
To trace the origin of fake Lincomycin 500mg circulating on the market, the Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health) has just sent an official dispatch to the Departments of Health of provinces and cities requesting a review of production and trading establishments, and at the same time providing detailed instructions on how to identify genuine and fake drugs.

Specifically, the fake Lincomycin 500mg sample with registration number: VD-13906-11, batch number: 175, expiry date: December 6, 2019 was sampled by Gia Lai Testing Center at Hong Loan Pharmacy, address Village 2, Thang Hung Commune, Chu P Rong District, Gia Lai Province. The fake Lincomycin 500mg capsule discovered in Gia Lai impersonated Thanh Hoa Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies Joint Stock Company.
Genuine Lincomycin 500mg capsules have the characteristics of a white or ivory white crystalline powder with a sparkling shine. When burned, the powder has a distinct unpleasant burning smell. The blister pack has longitudinal grooves that are not continuous or broken but straight.
The GMP logo and symbol are aligned on both sides of the drug. Genuine Lincomycin 500mg capsules have the batch number and expiry date on the top of the blister pack.
Meanwhile, the fake Lincomycon 500mg capsule has the characteristics of gray-yellow powder mixed with particles, no sparkle, when burned the powder has no clear smell. The blister pack has irregular vertical grooves cut into sections, the GMP logo and symbol are staggered on both sides of the pill column (vertical groove in the middle). The batch number and expiry date are at the bottom of the blister pack.
To ensure safety for users, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requests the Department of Health of provinces and cities, and the Health Departments of all sectors to notify drug trading and using establishments not to trade or use drugs named Lincomycon 500mg Capsules, Registration number: VD-13906-11, Batch number: 175, Expiry date: December 6, 2019 on the label impersonating the manufacturing facility as Thanh Hoa Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies Joint Stock Company, which has different characteristics from the real drug sample Lincomycin 500mg Capsules produced by Thanh Hoa Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies Joint Stock Company.
At the same time, coordinate with competent authorities to inspect, verify, and trace the origin of fake Lincomycon 500mg capsules and resolutely handle organizations and individuals who violate according to current regulations.
